It isn't often that I get exclusive scoop on a Bollywood celebrity, but now that I've got it, I've just got to share.
I recently learned from a friend, whose friend is friends with Tabu, that Tabu is currently dating an Italian-American guy in New York City. They met while she was in town filming Mira Nair's The Namesake, a film in which she plays Kal Penn's mother. The pair are really close and she seems really happy with him. My friend actually met Tabu a few weeks ago and said she's a great girl and really down to earth, but she chain smokes like mad. No other word on who the mystery guy is or what he does for a living, but best of luck to Tabu. But she really should lay off those cigs. The girl's got pretty skin and the cigarettes are just going to ruin it.

interesting. she plays the mother? juging fromt he picture she doesnt seem ready to be a mother to even kal penn who isn't exactly THAT young. I guess she'll play it with him as a child and hten growing up...
aisha, they aged her in the movie with makeup and hair dye. She's herself when Kal is a baby. Click on The Namesake link to see the trailer.
I watched the trailer - ohmigod, I can't wait to see the movie. I loved that book. She is such a great writer. I can't look at that actor without thinking of Harold and Kumar go to white Castle though.
sadaf, my thoughts are exactly yours. i also LOVED that novel. the only piece of fiction that ever brought me to tears. i cant wait to see it. but yea, kal penn? i wish they had more south asian actors in hollywood to choose from, though he seems to do fine in the trailer. and i love tabu. she's easily one of the most beautiful actresses bollywood ever produced (which is saying a lot since there are many of them).
The trailer is captivating isn't it? Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until it hits the DVD to see it. (Kids and movie theatres don't mix yet.)
Also, did ya'll recognize Jacinda Barrett (she plays Kal's girlfriend)? She was in one of the earlier seasons of Real World on MTV. She was the "model" who made prank phone calls to random people. I can't believe she still looks so young.
Tabu is gorgeous! She should really lay off the nicotine mmm maybe a hookah as a substitute. Did you see her in Maqbool? Fantastic.
If you have three toddlers around the age of four, not only are you my hero for surviving that, but I bet once in a while you could use the (literally) best parenting tip my wife and I ever received. You can read about it in The Five-Minute Drill. It might save you hours of sleep some night - it certainly did for us.
