More Exclusive Pics of Aishwarya Rai's Wedding

I just received these pictures via e-mail, and thought I'd put them up to share. These "leaked" photos are unlike any other I've seen and actually show Aish smiling and happy. Check 'em out!

Aish brought her sexy back to the wedding by wearing this ornate hairstyle. Her hair is braided, and covered with flowers (jasmine?) and 22 karat gold jewelry. She's wearing an arm band made of 22K gold and emeralds as well. In the background, you can see her mother-in-law, Jaya Bachchan.

Below are more images from the wedding ceremony and reception. Click on any image to enlarge it.

Here they are walking around the fire, as part of the Hindu marriage ceremony.

Okay, I just have to interrupt here. I'm all for brides blinging out at their wedding, the more the better. But a blinged out groom? Abhishek is wearing what looks like a multi-strand necklace made of emeralds AND a giant pearl-pendant and matching crown dripping even more emeralds. I know they say "if you've got it, flaunt it", and perhaps the theme for the wedding was maharaja-chic, but still, it seems like a bit too much bling for a groom.

This photo of Aish's BFF Preity Zinta (with Karan Johar) was also included in the set I received. I put it up mainly because I love the way Preity looks here. Everything from the highlights in her hair, to the yellow sari, to the rocking necklace she's wearing looks gorgeous. A little tidbit I learned about Preity and Aish, they both call someone close to them "Junior". Aish's nickname for Abhishek is "Junior", and Preity has a puppy named "Junior". Really.

Wow PReity is gorgeous too....

I dont know about the hair though. I mean every inch is covered. I can't decide if thats too over the top or if its okay considering its her wedding. Its not the extravagence of it... its more the fact you can't see her beautiful hair.... less is more sometimes.....

Thanks for the pictures. They do show them both smiling and living the moment. Some snaps out there have them both looking so serious that my 9 year old asked - why are they sad?!

regd the braid, well, Aish is from the South, and she looks the part :)

Thanks for posting these pics. I think Aish's hair is a little overdone and Abhi...I won't even start with that.
Aish looked so pretty in the pictures from the Temple visit. In the red sari. They make a handsome couple.
Preity does look gorgeous. I also love that white/gold sari, that the lady with her back showing in one of the pictures (Abhi's sister?).

You're right piki, that is Shweta, Abhi's sis.

I love how Shweta is wearing her sari! I can't see how it's pinned in the front, but I can guess. I love how it's pinned around the back, especially the portion of the palloo that's pinned on her blouse, it lets the palloo hang wider. I saved the picture, I shall try the look next time I wear a sari.

nadia, there's a picture of shweta sitting in a car going to the wedding. It's a terrible shot of her, but it shows you a little bit how she wore it from the front. It was traditional, over the left shoulder.

copy/paste this link into browser to see the picture. It's the first one at the top.

Raj, they're not smiling because they wanted Rani Mukherjee, or so I think.

These women are gorgeous. I dare say Preity is prettier than Ash though. Just something about her that's so girl-next-door lovely.

Chicmommy...may I add you to my blogroll? Did I ask already?

Its very true when they say money can't buy style.
They were better off getting filmi costume designers to dress them for the day, they look more like the fancy elephants and horses in a circus.........

No offense to anyone here, but a lot of you are really ignorant when it comes to Indian weddings. They are SUPPOSED to be extravagant, overdone, and blinged out - not anything like American or European weddings. And chicmommy, what you said about the groom is almost offensive because it shows how little you know about an Indian ceremony. Please everyone, stop trying to compare Indian culture to American/European culture because they are completely different things - apples and oranges. I think Aishwarya and her husband look amazing! (And btw, lets not forget, they are RICH, so it will just add to the extravagance)
